About Art in Action

Art in Action is a not-for-profit organization that assists in promoting local artists and encourages collaboration and mentorship with artists of all disciplines in Burlington Ontario and its surrounding communities. Art in Action provides exposure for the Burlington arts community and supports artists with their goals, whether they be new or for those that have been professionals for many years.

Currently Art in Action’s main focus is the annual Studio Tour in Burlington, which takes place the first weekend in November. The goal of the tour is to showcase the talents of the tour’s juried artists and to offer visitors a chance to meet these artists watch them demonstrate their art form. It’s a free self-driving tour that encourages visitors to drive through many different neighbourhoods in Burlington.

Art in Action has set up a scholarship fund for graduating high school students within the Halton Board of Education, with a focus on Burlington students, whom will be pursuing post secondary studies in the arts.

Art in Action Mandate

Art in Action assists artists towards becoming self-sustaining entrepreneurs, by encouraging a social community for artists within Burlington and the surrounding area and provides an opportunity for artists to engage and to provide exposure for the artists within this community.

Art in Action Objectives

The objectives of the organization are to organize and promote events, including a weekend event within the Burlington community, in which our organization’s participants will showcase their skills and artwork to the public, either as a guest artist or in their own studio locations. Our organization will invite artists living and working in Burlington and its surrounding areas to apply for this weekend event, where those who are accepted into the tour will pay a fee.  Our organization will levy other fees to further their objectives as required. Our organization will organize such opportunities for its members to enhance their artistic and entrepreneurial skills as seen fit by the board.

In accordance with these objectives Art in Action has set up a scholarship fund for graduating high school students within the Halton board of education that will be pursuing post secondary studies in the arts.
